Hello!
This is a work-in-progress rewrite of Terrasavr!
It can do most things. It's also supposed to be far nicer to use both on small screens and big screens.
Last updated on 2024-07-01. Item data from Terraria v?.?.?.?.
You can leave feedback on forums.
You can also download Terrasavr for offline use.

Where are my save files?
Warning: Steam
If you are playing Terraria on Steam, you'll want to disable cloud saving first (right-click the game in Library, pick "Properties", untick "Keep games saves in the Steam Cloud") and re-enable it after you are done messing with your files.
Windows
Saved characters in Terraria for Windows are located in
My Documents ➜ My Games ➜ Terraria ➜ Players
Note that this is your personal Documents folder rather than a shared one.
Mac
Saved characters in Terraria for Mac are located in
~/Library/Application Support/Terraria/Players
The easiest way to get there is:
  • Open Finder
  • Pick menu "Go - Go to Folder..."
  • Paste the aforementined location
  • Press the "Go" button
Alternatively you may use the search feature in Finder to locate the folder.
Linux
Saved characters in Terraria for Linux are located in
~/.local/share/Terraria/Players
or
$XDG_DATA_HOME/Terraria/Players
I'm going to assume that you know how to show hidden folders in your distro's file manager if you're playing games on Linux
iOS

What's next?
You should be seeing a file picker asking you where to save the modified file, but if not, check your Downloads folder.
Next you'll want to move the file back where you took it from, replacing the original.
If you do not get a "replace file?" prompt while doing so, you may have to change the file extension back to PLR.
